Were closed Friday for Independence Day COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY - SIPA Admissions Blog

Were closed Friday for Independence Day COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY - SIPA Admissions Blog This Saturday, July 4, marks an important day in the United States of America. Its a national holidayone commonly associated with barbeques, fireworks  and paradeswhere  we commemorate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. To honor the date,  the Office of Admissions Financial Aid will be closing early this week. So when we leave  our office  on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. EST, we will remain closed for the long weekend.  Well resume normal business hours on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. EST. If youre in town this weekend,  I encourage you to check out NYCs free flagship July 4 event,  Macys Fourth of July Fireworks Show. Just grab a spot near the Brooklyn Bridge (Manhattan or Brooklyn side) to watch the department store giant fire off more than 40,000 fireworks choreographed to a 25-minute patriotic soundtrack. (Even if youre not an American, you can still enjoy the show!) You can also spend your afternoon at Nathans Annual Hot Dog Eating Contest on Coney Island; attend the New York Mets vs. Texas Rangers baseball game at Citifield in Queens; or  if youre with the family, check out the  Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band at the Bronx Zoo. No matter how you spend your Fourth of July weekend, Im sure itll be a memorable one. After all, youre in NYC! Until Monday!
